It's a very cool guitar, and SRV will always be one of the greats...I can definitely see having one of these if I were a big SRV fan (which I am) AND I had the $$$ to afford one (which I don't).

But if I were a gigging musician, I don't think I'd want to be on stage playing a guitar with someone else's initials on it. Would you?

Cool

I agree badger. I'm not sure what kind of person actually pays the bucks for this kind of guitar?!?

But I still think it's cool just to see some close up pics of what his guitar (or a replica thereof) looks like. Interesting story too.

You're right. The story is great. Wish you could still find a cool old strat in a pawn shop for a couple of hundred bucks, but those days are long gone.

What kind of person buys one of these...I guess someone that has nothing better to do with $17 grand?

Anyone see Californiacation this week on Showtime? They go into the vintage room at Guitar Center in Hollywood...ends up buying a vintage Gibson Spirit for his daughter off the street for $13500. Funny thing was that the guy was willing to sell it for $1000. They were looking for a guitar that looked like Kieth Richards had puked on it in the 70s....something with a bit of character!

Take a look at EGR and the set of comments from readers regarding the Lenny tribute Strat...a lot of strong opinions being expressed!

I don't know if this qualifies or not (the logo is only on the back of the neck joint), but I would sure play an Eric Johnson Strat without hesitation.

Yeah, the Eric Johnson strat is not the same. Guess I should have said, "With someone else's really big initials in bold stickers on the pickguard, where everyone can see them."

OK, how about one of the copies of EVH's "Frankenstein" guitar?

I saw one of the EVH at a Guitar Center.... You could make that guitar yourself for less than $1000....and put a better finish on it!
