Default Custom Shop Time Machine Series '69 Stratocaster Relic Electric Guitar

Ok guys (and girls as applicable),

Please weigh in on this beauty (IMHO). This is closer to my budget than some of the others I've seen...

Very nice. It will at least hold value. I've played a similar strat at Buffalo Brothers a few months ago.... I'm not sure what they mean by U-shaped neck... Hopefully that's different that the "baseball bat" width I've been seeing on some of the newer relics. It's just not my cup of tea...maybe you'll love it. Also, its white, so it will be "common." Usually the ones with some of the funkier colors or bursts are more collectible. Ultimately you've got to play it and compare it to other relics. The variance is just too high among even the same models The relic tele I fell in love with had that special something that made it different that all of the other teles in the shop....and even the same guitar at another store.

I'm sure the guitar is great. Just make sure you get one you love, and then make sure you don't pay too much for it. Here is an example of a very similar guitar selling for $1900 (make sure to click on the "more images" button while you're looking):

I agree I better love it - even more of a case for actually playing it rather than an internet purchase and having to hassle with a return.

Thanks Adaptable for your comments also, I've bookmarked Buffalo Bros. and plan to make a trip there before the end of the year.

My wife and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in October and we each have the go ahead for a celebration gift to each other of our own choosing - guess what I have in mind for myself?

True. I didn't mean to imply that you should buy the $1900 guitar...but you can use it when you're negotiating price

I've purchased two guitars on the internet and have been very happy with both -- a 98 Nashville Tele and my 84 Kramer Focus. The Tele I bought on Ebay and it arrived exactly as it was described, and to this day is one of my favorites. The Kramer I bought from a guitar shop in St. Louis and it had a couple of small dings that were not accurately described in the posting. While that was a disappointment, the guitar plays so well and sounds so good that I was willing to overlook the dings. But there is some risk involved and in the future I'll probably stick to buying guitars I can test drive first.
