Effects Loop

Just curious; I noticed that if I run my guitar through effects pedals then to the amp, it has a different sound to running the effects through the in/out effects loop thing on the back of my amp.

Which is preferable? I know the real answer is whatever sounds better, but what are the reasons for going either way?

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, there is a post somewhere on our forum that really details the effects loop/sequencing process...and I have to confess that I can't find it.

However, there are other members that have more experience with effects than I. so someone will reply soon.
