Default New Guitar

Hi, im new on this site.I just wnted some advice on a new guitar i am planning on getting. I am interested in the following types: telecaster, stratocaster as well as a jazzmaster or jaguar. Can anyone give me advice as to the best possible guitar i could get in a price range between 700 euros to 1400 euros. The way it looks would be important as well, i like the look of a full black telecaster custom but i was wondering if there were other brands with this colour available but of a higher quality.

I'm sure Fender products cost less in the USA than they do in Europe, and you may be able to save some money and get a better model by ordering one from a reputable US dealer. Heck, the Euro is so strong that on the money you could save you could probably fly to the USA, go to a state with no sales tax (New Hampshire or Delaware on the East Coast....both not far from major airports), and have a wide selection of guitars to choose from....plus have a bit of an inexpensive holiday.

I suggest Sweetwater or Musician's Friend....or perhaps a more botique shop like Buffalo Brothers Guitars, who have a sweet authentic Black 1978 Custom Telecaster that is sure to go up in value....although a bit out of your price range at $2800.

As far as other brands, G&L is probably the best at making Fender type guitars that are often better than the Fender orginals, and are well within your price range. If relic guitars interest you, you could easily get a custom made guitar from Dave Swisher at thisoldguitar.net ....and maybe find a Bill Nash relic....both of which surpass the quality of Fender's production instruments.

Adaptable's advice is spot on. The next step is to decide which guitar you want, as the four Fender models you listed are all unique in their own way. Each guitar has different pickups and electronics, looks, feel, sound, etc.

The Strat is the most widely used of the four...everyone from Pete Townshend to Eric Clapton to Jimi Hendrix have used Strats extensively, as have blues artists and even some metal bands.

The Tele is best known for its country and gritty rock tones (Brad Paisley, Rolling Stones, early Bruce Springsteen)

The Jaguar and Jazzmaster have more been the domain of Surf bands, alternative rock and grunge bands (the Beach Boys, Elvis Costello, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana)

The Strat and Telecaster are very closely replicated by G&L (and many other companies), while the Jaguar and Jazzmaster are not. As always, the best plan is to visit guitar shops and play them all, so you get firsthand experience with the look, feel and sound of each guitar.
