I took a Classic Player Baja Tele for a spin today at Sam Ash and
really liked it.
I only had a few minutes and I did NOT plug the guitar into an amp, so I can't comment on its tones, but everything else was very impressive. It was the exact guitar shown on Fender's site:

The desert sand finish + white pickguard (scratchplate) + maple neck & fretboard made for a great looking guitar. Fender says the neck has a soft V shape. Honestly I couldn't feel it, but I loved the neck profile, and in my quick test I heard zero fret buzz. The guitar resonated well and was loud enough acoustically to convince me that it would sound sweet through an amp.
This guitar looked like it had been built in the mid 50's and kept in a vault ever since. Everything about it said that its fit, finish and build quality were excellent. And for $799, if it sounds as good as it looks, its a great instrument for the money.
For a long time I was not a Tele fan, but I have two of them now, and I'm starting to wonder whether it's time to trade them in for a new model...
