Default PRS Mira

Just visited PRS Guitars 2007 and discovered their new "Mira" guitar, which in body style and construction is aimed right at the Les Paul Special but adds a coil tap. There is a video demo and the guitar definitely has a nice combination of humbucker/single coil tones. I really like the look of the guitar -- very old school.

I don't own any PRS guitars and am not generally a fan, but this model appeals to me. Check it out!

Hmmm... I think I mentioned before, but I don't like the way PRS guitars balance themselves on my leg when I sit down with them. I like the McCarty series that is pretty much their version of a Les Paul, but I would problem spring for a real Les Paul if I were to spend that much. Also, I tend to like binding on the necks of Les Paul like guitars.... I think its a psychological remnant from playing the "Spirit of Radio" riff on guitars without the binding and having the string slide of the fret.

Up until now I've felt the same way. The traditional PRS double-cut design just never appealed to me, and while the singlecut looks good, I'd rather have a Les Paul -- or, if I wanted to save money, I'd buy one of the ESP Les Paul clones.

But I've always loved the old Les Paul Special double cut body style, and the Mira ups the ante with its electronics and Fender-style color options. Put it this way -- based on what I've seen on their web site, the next time I'm out looking at guitars I'll definitely give a Mira a good test drive.

Cool.... I've been touring Texas for the last 2 weeks, and keep meaning to stop into a GC...There must be more music stores per capita in Houston then any other city I've been to.

If you've been doing all that travel for work, then at least all those stores might take some of the sting out of being on the road that long...did your trip include a stop in Austin?

Actually, besides work....Mike and I have been playing acoustic shows in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio last week and over the weekend. It's been a good time in the Lone Star State....especially loving Bone Daddy's BBQ in Dallas...its like Hooters on steroids with steaks & ribs! I might have some free time tomorrow afternoon in San Antonio to check out some axes.... Stopped in Austin for a Shiner but didn't get to do anything musical.

I've been playing quite a bit of acoustic lately...whipping out a lot of new covers; A bunch of Ryan Adams: Starting to Hurt, Game of Hearts as well as Cold Play's Yellow, Police's Every Little Thing She Does..., Elton John's Tiny Dancer even some Prince (Kiss)....along with our originals. Acoustic gigs are so much more laid back and easy to get that full electric ones. Heck, we're even making a little gas money doing it.
