Default String Scraping

I seem to have a problem with excessive string scraping when moving chords or sliding around the neck.

I've used finger ease and fast fret, of course lots of lemon oil on the fretboard and it's helped somewhat but I'm thinking it's maybe more of a mechanic's issue?

I've tried slightly lifting my fingers while making the changes but find that it slows me down a bit.

Suggestions or thoughts on reducing or eliminating the unwanted noise would be greatly appreciated

Use your right palm to quickly mute the strings while you change chords or slide around the neck. That's what the studio musicians do.

Along with muting the strings I picked up a tip from a Ray Benson dvd. Instead of the store bought string lubricants rub the tips of your fingers along the sides of your nose underneath your eyes. This will pick up the natural oils on your face and as strange as it seems I feel it works just as good if not better and you run less chance of gunking up your fretboard.

Thank YOU! Both work great for me - need to practice a bit more on the muting but have an endless supply of oil

except if you're really sweaty and/or greasy, in which case rubbing your face/nose would add lots of corrosive sweat and stuff, right?

I suffer from sweaty hands ... not that sweaty, but sweaty enough to have to change strings more than most.

just a thought...
