Hey guys,

Great shots so far, Cary very jealous of that Guild, ah well, maybe one day.
Sorry, no pics of my guitars due to the high embarassment quotient that it would bring me but i did buy a new Marshall DSL 401 last week that is so good that I feel like a better player already. Next stop a new or old guitar to go for that elusive tone we all crave!!

ATB, Rick.

Wow. All of the guitars are beautiful. I'm embarrassed to post pictures of mine now.

Both really nice guitars. I love the body on the Tokai.

Here are my two favorite guitars. 66 Jaguar and 66 Broadway. The Jaguar is a really cool guitar, although it's tempermental. I bought it out of some guy's garage in Milwaukee in '83, and it was heavily used and abused. It sounds great but requires a little TLC.

The Broadway is just the opposite. It has hardly been played and it is an absolute horse of a guitar. I found this guitar in Muskegon MI -- bought it for $500 last year! It has a big, full tone unplugged, and through my little 70s Peavey Backstage it sounds like it's going to blow up the amp. Those PAT# mini-humbuckers are nothing short of incredible.

If you don't agree that big hollow-body guitars built in Kalamazoo in the 50s and 60s are simply amazing instruments, you haven't played one!

Default The happy family

My current rotation:

-2002 Fender Stratocaster American Deluxe with Vintage Noiseless pickups. Sounds undoubtedly like a Strat...sans the 60 cycle hum. Feels good. I have a feeling it will get better with age. A great bluesy "lead" guitar.

-Line6 Variax 500 (I can make this thing sound like just about anything from a Jazz Box to a twangy Tele or thick Les Paul....live it could even pass as an acoustic or a Rickenbacker 12-string).

-2006 Fender Nashville Power Telecaster (MIM) with Texas Specials pickups and the Fishman Piezo system. This is my ultimate rhythm guitar. Country twang to rockin sparkle....even a strat middle position complete with the 60 cycle hum. I can dirty up the magnetics while running the piezo clean through an acoustic amp or direct. Sounds like a wall of sound. Plays like a "brand new" guitar. Wish it had more of a vintage feel. I think it's the most versatile sounding guitar Fender makes. If it only had a B-Bender!

Lately, I've been playing thru my customized all tube Mesa-Boogie F30 with a MC-90 Celestion. Sounds more like a classic AC-30 when clean than a normal rockin F30. Has more power than I need considering how small it is.

I've got a bunch of other stuff (more Variaxes, a Martin/Taylor acoustics, a Fender Blue Deluxe, and some Roland solid state amps), but this is what I'm using in the studio at the moment. Occasionally I'll play a Line6 Podxt Live rig through a Bose PS/1....which sounds amazing, but is way too much to carry around....and isn't really practical in the studio.

adaptable,

very cool guitars. I love the finish on your Tele -- I have a 98 MIM Nasvhille Tele, without the Fishman. It's candy apple red with maple fretboard. Great little guitar, but doesn't have the visual appeal that yours has.

How happy are you with your Variax?
