I finally found one of these at the local Guitar Center and came pretty close to buying one (on sale for $650). Basically the guitar is everything
Cary said it would be... The electronics are brilliant....as good or better than any American Telecaster model. It was heavier than most as well, being ash wood (this particular one was pretty heavily finished in a solid Desert Sand/tan finish).
Unfortunately, I just could not love the neck. It had big modern frets that I like, but I prefer the thinner C Shape necks rather than this thicker heavily lacquered D Shape.... I suppose it could be easily swapped out.
I'm really tended to go back and do a relic job on this axe, but I just don't have the time (or the disposable income). If Fender still has this model available next year, I might spring for it.... I actually preferred the 50's and 60's Players Classic Strats a bit more (simply because of the necks)...but the electronics on this tele are fantastic..
