Not sure it's necessary to choose a specific guitar to play reggae. Usually reggae tones are very clean, and I've seen several reggae bands performing live with Fender Strats. Bob Marley was famous for playing a Les Paul Special that had P90 pickups...I think you could get good reggae tones out of just about any electric guitar, with the possible exception of a full-sized hollow body jazz guitar. That type of guitar may sound a bit too "dark" for reggae.
