I've seen a lot of beautiful guitars on the site here and know some of you have new additions (Big Kahuna for one) and I'm interested in knowing what songs you have been playing and more specifically details regarding why a particular guitar is best suited to the style and or tone of that particular song/music.
Songs I've been playing:
Danzig - Mother, Twist of Cain, Dirty Black Summer, She Rides - Gibson SG Standard - fun standard rock stuff my band and I play for sound checks.
Judas Priest - All of the British Steel Album. This is my first time learning a complete album without TAB or music, leads and solos for both guitar parts - trying to get my ear training in. I'm approx 75% done now.
Also a few songs from Unleashed in the East- Genocide,Green Manlishi,Victim of Changes - Gibson SG Standard for Glenn's parts & Gibson Faded Flying V for KK's - nothing like emulating your heroes!
Santana - Black Magic Woman - Les Paul Standard mostly on the neck p/up - love the sustain and Carlos's soulful style of playing.
Black Sabbath - Sweetleaf, Snowblind, (ok no I don't do drugs...well it's been years anyway

) Gibson SG Standard for Sweetleaf and Gibson Explorer for Snowblind (C#) love the arpeggiated breakdown for Snowblind.
Metallica - early stuff from Kill em All - this morning I spent 2 hours grooving the first half of Jump In The Fire - tricky little palm muted lick to get down in real time (176 bpm) still not quite there. SG again
Using my 7 String for Originals - "Black Wings" & "Deliver Us" someday I'd like to share them with you - might be a while though...
I sometimes equate my musical journey to stages in life. I'd say by looking at the list above I'm truly in my adolescence! Actually I've been a metal head all my life and thought I would start with some of the originators of the genre - I also try to get back to the roots and play some blues but it just hasn't caught me the way metal has. I will say all the talk of Strats and Tele's here has me interested again...
I intentionally left out what I'm playing through (until now) since it's all done with AMP modeling via my PODXT LIVE. I really like trying to get as close to the guitar tone as possible. This might be considered sacrilege on the TUBE FREAKS forum LOL
