Hi, I'm an aussie, I've made a few posts already, but here's what I'm listening to:

Jack Johnson - Sleep Through The Static. 'They Do, They Don't' is probably my favourite track from that one.

Seu Jorge - The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions - this is a brazilian guitarist and singer, covering David Bowie songs, sung in Portuguese. Very cool. From a Wes Anderson movie, 'The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou'.

At The Drive-In - Relationship of Command, for when I'm feeling a bit more energetic.

Animal Liberation Orchestra's latest two albums - 'Fly Between Falls' and 'Roses & Clover' - just really happy, fun music.

And a bit of other stuff that you guys probably would never heard of before: Front End Loader, Dirty Three, Abby Dobson ...

G'Day Mate! I lived in Manly (right near the Corso) from 2000-2003. It seems like Jack Johnson's first record was the soundtrack for that time in my life. I'm definitely going to check out Seu Jorge during my stay here in Hawaii.

The Life Aquatic is one of my favorite movies from the past 5 years. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. A great dark comedy with a great cast. And the Seu Jorge songs are peppered throughout the film. Hearing classic Bowie tunes song in Portuguese is very cool and really adds something to the film. Check it out!

wow, I lived in Dee Why from 02-04!

If you go to YouTube, and type in Seu Jorge, you should be able to find some of the clips from the songs.

And I think Jack Johnson was the soundtrack for the whole Northern Beaches in those years!

Dee Why....I still have mates there. I lived in Manly on East Esplanade & Victoria Parade. One of my mates is the human jukebox at the Manly Boatshed...check him out because when he's sober he is probably one of the best undiscovered guitarists I've ever seen.....we're talking Tommy Emmanuel good. The guy who owns the pub, Gough, told us stories of him jamming/teaching Kieth Urban, Ben Harper, among others. I jammed with him for a few hours, but by the last hour, he was too wasted to play.

I listened to Seu Jorge this weekend while watching the ocean from my resort room on the Big Island....it was appropriate music...although at times I felt like it was a bit over done & cheesy (like Changes)...I switch to the island music station after listening to the whole album. I spent some time in Brazil and was turned on to Caetano Veloso and Milton Nascimento....that's amazing music. Check out Caetano's version of Billie Jean (which no doubt inspired Chris Cornell version which was covered a couple of weeks ago on American Idol). Caetano also has an entire album of Mexican Mariachi songs done in a Bossa Nova style...it's better than the Mexican versions, IMO.

Default ...late addition

those are all good picks as well as not too far out there. Lately i've been on this Santana kick that I just can't get out from under. On the lighter side I like to kick out some Sublime and a little Oasis. I've always been a sucker for the old classics.

I'm laughing my a$$ off listening to "Flight of the Concordes" lately....also discovered early Ryan Adam's Whiskeytown stuff and some older Bruce Springsteen (Darkness on the Edge of Town) thanks to the recommendations on this thread.

Cool, kind of reminds me of Pete Yorn as well as a great San Francisco local band, Luce:

MySpace.com - Pete Yorn - Montville, New Jersey - Rock - www.myspace.com/peteyorn

MySpace.com - LUCE - SAN FRANCISCO, California - Alternative / Pop / Rock - www.myspace.com/luce
