Gentlemen, we're on our way to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin for our annual family vacation (Google Sturgeon Bay if you've never heard of it. Very cool place to be in the summer. Since that's my home town, I can assure you that you don't want to be there in the winter).

My sister and brother-in-law are flying in from Phoenix. He's a great guitar player, so I have my Tele custom, Rick 4003 bass, and two amps (my Vox Valvetronix and old Peavey Backstage) in the car. I figure I'll let Russ take the Tele with the Vox so he has access to the great tone and effects with that amp, and I'll plunk along on the bass through the Peavey.

Usually he plays the songs his band has in their current set list and I just figure out the bass lines. Then we'll play for family and friends while we're all having a few beers. Should be a great time.

The rest of the week is split between golf, water skiing, biking/running...and more beer!

Have a great week...

Badger

Enjoy Badger! I'm busy yelling at contractors this week because my pool isn't going to be ready for the 4th of July.

ah, I'm working all week and that is all! But on the 5th of July we're taking a group of teenagers out to a little country town about 6-7 hours away called Coonabarabran. Should be fun.

Hope your pool issues get sorted out. I'm guessing that Independence Day for you guys is like Australia Day for us, only bigger.

It's kind of like New Years' Eve in Sydney...lots of summer activities, parades, kids are out of school, and fireworks in the evening... We get a whooping 4 day weekend this year.

In the past I've had plenty of gigs for the 4th of July....This year its a bit tapered off (with the fires throughout Central & Northern California, where we usually have gigs this time of year). We played the Napa Valley Fourth of July in 2006 and it was like playing at a giant rock festival (except everyone was on lawn chairs and towels rather than standing up!).

Next week, Mike and I are planning to work on arrangements and more scratch tracks for our new album. We just got a bit of a setback because our bass player can't do this project. We're considering going to Nashville and putting it down with some session players.
