Default T-Rex Alberta

I had a go of one of these pedals today, through the Vox amp that was posted about somewhere else here.

With the gain wound right down, it sounded sweet and sort of overdriven tubey. With the gain cranked right up, it was a nice 'clean' distortion sound.

Anyone else used one?

EDIT: oh, wait ... wrong forum. Can a mod/admin please move this to the analog forum? cheers

I've never seen the T-Rex Alberta, let alone tried one! However, I have used a Tube Screamer in front of my Vox Valvetronix, and it sounded great. It's just that the more I experiment with the amp, the more I find a range of great overdrive & distortion tones that minimize the need for a pedal.

yeah, the guy in the shop was saying that the Alberta is reminiscent of the Tube Screamer.

so I plugged a Les Paul into a Tube Screamer, into a Fender amp today ... I'm impressed!

Though for the same price, there's also the Seymour Duncan Lava Box:

Effects Pedals - SFX-05 Lava Box - Seymour Duncan/Basslines

The Alberta is nicer still, but $100 more.

My Pods do a fine job at reproducing what a Tube Screamer does....and then some. I've A/B compared the Pods to the real thing, and with this particular effect, even my die hard tube freak buddies where hard pressed to tell the difference.

Amp emulation is another story....
