| Just a quick update. I've been successfully using GR3 live in a church worship service since mid July. Pro's - GR3 is an amazing piece of software. Very happy with the amp and effect emulations, and how EZ it is to tweek the tone on the fly. The only Con is that not all laptops can handle live audio applications. Dell and Mac receive high marks, Toshiba has a problem with intermittant noise artifacts in the signal. So a new laptop will be my next major purchase. Anyway, GR3 works grrrrreat live, and receives high marks from me. NATIVE INSTRUMENTS : Products : Guitar Line : GUITAR RIG 3 Kontrol Edition

| g'day from aus. I've never seen this before, but it looks interesting. Is this a way of rigging up to the PA, to maintain a low stage volume but still have nice tones? The 'room' that my church meets in isn't huge (200-250 people capacity), so we've just done everything bar vocals and keyboard 'acoustic' ie: the bass players and I just turn up our amps to balance with the acoustic sound of the drums. When we finished our renovations and installed a brand spankin new sound system, we tried micing and DI'ing all the amps and stuff but it was creating more problems and was ending up way louder than the way we do it now. Would you say this is easier setup/mixing wise? |

| Multi-core processors seem to work well with emulation programs (I recommend Intel Core 2 Duos....like I have on my Macbook Pro & Dell Latitude D620). They can handle the Line6 & other assorted simulators with no latency, and even with multiple instances. Another thing to consider is a sound interface with good drivers. My RME Fareface 800 is always up to date with the latest standards and can perform miracles like recording an entire band 12 tracks of a band while playing back tracks with no latency (@24bit 48mhz)...and this was with 3 year old non-multi core processors (HT 3.4ghz P4). I have no doubt that it could handle much more today. Most of the Digidesign interfaces are pretty good as well (they now have tiny affordable MBoxes that are made for portability and excellent sound quality). The Line6 Interfaces maybe good enough, but the pre-amps are not as clean....but probably just fine for guitar only.

| GR3 has NO stage volume. You listen though stage monitors or IEM's. It has L and R 1/4" outs you can DI straight to console in stereo or Left-only mono. Requires no special setting on the console, and it has several output level options that you can adjust as needed for your console. This also eliminates 'bad amp days' ; your guitar sound is absolutely consistent because everything is algorithm based. It doesn't fix 'bad console operator days' though. That requires a 2x4. I have the Rig Kontrol version, so it uses Native Instruments soundcard and drivers.
